Kasey Breidenthal, vice president of operations and sales at ComfortCare Homes, was recently recognized by the Wichita Business Journal as one of the Women Who Lead in Major Companies.

Breidenthal was one of 29 women recognized at an event in their honor in April.

She represents the third generation of the Stark family to be involved in the family business, ComfortCare Homes. She attended both the University of Kansas and Kansas State University, receiving a degree in landscape architecture. She spent several years in landscape design and sales before a family illness brought her back to Wichita and, ultimately, ComfortCare Homes.

“I began my time at ComfortCare Homes as their landscape maintenance provider,” she said. “Over the last 12+ years, I have grown into many different roles in the company until landing in this role about three years ago.”

Her dad, Doug Stark, has been a huge influence and taught her how to lead with heart. Stark was honored this April by the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce as the Uncommon Citizen of the year.

“He looks at the human and the situation, not just the numbers,” Breidenthal said.

She credits Micala Gingrich Gaylord, president and CEO of ComfortCare Homes, with helping her grow in the operations role and as a manager.

“If your team is failing, it’s oftentimes because of lack of communication or accountability from leadership,” Breidenthal said. “Look for your own shortcomings. Do the work to improve yourself, and your team will follow.”

Her advice to other women in leadership roles is to keep learning, be humble and do your work.

“I love helping people, and in this role, I get to help our care staff and our families,” Breidenthal said. “I also have the most amazing and dynamic team that help find joy even in the hard days.”
